Micro Interaction

A micro interaction is a small interface behavior that gives feedback or supports a task.

Microinteractions are part of the interface’s Art Direction because they affect tone, responsiveness, and perceived quality.

Examples

  • button hover
  • loading state
  • filter applied state
  • form validation
  • menu opening
  • card expansion

What It Should Do

A micro interaction should make the interface feel understandable and responsive.

It can show:

  • that an action happened
  • that the system is working
  • that input is valid or invalid
  • that a state has changed
  • that progress is happening
  • that the interface is responding
